Public’s Top 10 Poker Hall of Fame Nominees Announced

17 July, 2009

The final table of the main event isn’t the only remaining part of the 2009 World Series of Poker that people are awaiting with baited breath. There’s also the matter of the induction ceremony for the Poker Hall of Fame. The inductees have not been determined yet, but in a twist on tradition, the public was invited to vote on who they think should be nominated for induction. Public voting on that has now closed, and the top 10 names have been submitted to the World Series of Poker as official nominees for consideration to be among the one, two, or three (they say) people honored this year.

The names on that list are:

  • Mike Sexton
  • Erik Seidel
  • Daniel Negreanu
  • Scotty Nguyen
  • Men Nguyen
  • Tom McEvoy
  • Phil Ivey
  • Dan Harrington
  • Barry Greenstein
  • Tom Dwan

The public nominated 41 people in all.

The Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council will “vett” these names (whatever that entails) and release the official list of nominees (there’s no set number). Then the 15 surviving members of the current Poker Hall of Fame will cast the final vote on who will be added to their ranks.
