At this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table (sponsored, by the way, by Everest Poker), the Poker Hall of Fame will announce Mike Sexton, The Ambassador of Poker, as the only person to be honored with induction into the Poker Hall of Fame for 2009. Mike has 1 WSOP bracelet, 1 of the top 10 in WSOP cashouts, and has a lifetime poker winnings of more than $3,700,000.
It’s fitting that Mike is the only honoree this year as he received about seventy-five percent of the people’s votes. And that’s another thing that makes this honor so special – that “the people” were permitted, for the first time, to have their vote counted too. That means fans, fellow poker players and poker stars, and even people in the media, all collectively agreed that Mike Sexton deserves to be the singular 2009 Poker Hall of Fame inductee.
The induction ceremony will take place on November 7 at some point during the 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table.
